Covid-19 Salgınının Finansal Başarı Durumuna Etkileri: BIST Sağlık Sektöründe Listelenen Şirketlerin Altman Z Skoru ile Analizi

Türkiye’de ilk COVID-19 vakası 11 Mart 2020 tarihinde tespit edilmiş ve Dünya Sağlık Örgütü ise yine aynı tarihte COVID-19’u bir pandemi olarak nitelendirdiğini duyurmuştur. Söz konusu pandemi süreciyle birlikte diğer ülkelerde olduğu gibi Türkiye’de de hükümet çeşitli kısıtlamalar getirerek salgının daha fazla yayılmasını önlemeye çalışmıştır. Getirilen kısıtlamalar sonucu bazı sektörlerde hareketliliğin azalmasıyla olumsuz etki oluştururken, COVID-19’a bir tedavi bulma çalışmaları sağlık sektörüne hareketlilik getirmiştir. Bu çalışmada Borsa İstanbul’da (BİST) işlem gören ve sağlık sektöründe faaliyet gösteren 5 (beş) şirketin 2016-2022 yılları arasına ait verileri ele alınarak finansal başarıları analiz edilmiştir. Bu bağlamda çalışmada literatürde yaygın olarak kullanılan Alman Z Skor analizi yöntemi tercih edilmiştir. Söz konusu şirketlerin finansal verileri Altman Z Skor yöntemiyle analiz edilerek finansal başarı düzeyleri hesaplanmıştır ve COVID-19 salgını öncesiyle sonrası karşılaştırılarak yorumlanmıştır.

The first case of COVID-19 in Turkey was detected on March 11, 2020, and the World Health Organization announced that COVID-19 was a pandemic on the same date. With the pandemic, like in other countries, the government in Turkey has implemented various restrictions to prevent the spread of the outbreak. While the restrictions have had a negative impact on mobility in some sectors, efforts to find a cure for COVID-19 have brought mobility to the healthcare sector. In this study, the financial success of five companies operating in the healthcare sector and traded on the Istanbul Stock Exchange (BIST) between 2016-2022 was analyzed. In this context, the commonly used Altman Z Score analysis method in the literature was preferred. The financial data of these companies were analyzed with the Altman Z Score method, and their financial success levels were calculated and interpreted by comparing the pre- and post-COVID-19 outbreak periods.
